DESCRIPTION:Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling\n  \nCourse Content\n\n\n\nProfessional organisational issues in counselling\nCounselling in a diverse society\nCounselling theory\nAdvanced counselling skills\nSelf-awareness for counsellors\nResearch methodologies\n\n\n\nCourse Requirements\n\nYou must have English GCSE grade 4 (level 4) or above.\nHold a ABC Level 3 Certificate in Counselling Skills (course to have been completed in the last 3 years).\nA satisfactory reference from your level 3 tutor.\nA successful interview (see ‘Enrolment Process).\nDBS check (dated within 3 months of the start of the course).\nComplete a student membership with BACP (this will be submitted at the start of the course and is at your own expense).\n\nDuring the course you must \n\nUndertake 100 hours of placement work.\nComplete at least 20 hours in one-to-one counselling with a BACP accredited therapist\nUndertake a minimum of 13\, ninety minute one-to-one sessions with an appropriately qualified supervisory counsellor. (NB: one ninety minute session is required for every twelve hours on placement work.)\n\nYou will need to understand the demanding and personal nature of the course. Whilst this course is by no means ‘therapy’ for some it can present an emotional challenge. We therefore ask you to consider whether you are able to take on the course at this time. For example\, we welcome applications from those who have experience of therapy\, however\, joining the course whilst still in therapy needs to be given careful consideration. \nPlease note: if you have been in recovery we ask that you have been clear for a minimum of two years before applying for this course. \nThe course will run subject to minimum numbers being reached. \nProgression\nSuccessful completion of the course awards qualified status and entitles you to apply for jobs as Counsellors. \nYou may also progress onto postgraduate and post-qualifying courses in counselling studies that are designed to enhance the practice\, skills and knowledge of a practicing counsellor. This can include training in your chosen specialism. \nMany candidates progress towards national accreditation status with lead bodies such as The British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). \nEnrolment Process\nIn the first instance you should complete the ‘Apply Now’ application form\, after which you will receive an email acknowledging your application has been received. \nNext\, we will contact you to arrange an interview. This interview will be conducted at the centre and in addition to a formal interview may also involve both skills practice and some group work. \nFollowing the interview successful applications will be offered a place on the course. Acceptance of this offer will mean that the course fee is payable. \nNB: The centre reserves the right to cancel the course (providing a full refund) dependent on student numbers \nWhen\nThe course starts on Tuesday 8th September 2026 at 3:00pm-8:30pm and runs for 24 months with weekly classes (in line with the centres term dates) for a period of 2 years \nFees\nFees are £4\,500 for returning students\, (for those who undertook the level 2 and or level 3 courses with ourselves) there is a £100.00 discount. \nThis cost includes: \n\nYear 1 and 2 tuition\nA fee for a mandatory residential weekend\nRegistration with awarding body.\n\nThe course fee can be paid by you personally or your employer (or other third party). You will need a signed confirmation of this when you enrol. \nOnce you have accepted a place on the course you are liable for the full course fee\, regardless of whether the full course is completed or not. \n\nIn addition to the course fees\, students will also have to fund the following items (typically these costs equate to between £1\,600 to £1\,800): \n\nA DBS check\nBACP Student Membership\nProfessional Indemnity Insurance\nPersonal therapy (you must complete at least 20 hours in one-to-one counselling with a BACP accredited therapist)\nSupervision (you will need a minimum of 13\, ninety minute one-to-one sessions with an appropriately qualified supervisory counsellor. NB: one ninety minute session is required for every twelve hours on placement work.)\n\n\n\nResidential Weekend\nThis is an integral part of the Level 4 course allowing for a focus on personal development.
